Automotive & Motorsports

Trey Walker

Future Tech
CMU Tech at Colorado Mesa University

For Trey Walker, a repair is also a chance to help someone understand their vehicle. He has run a free repair setup from his family's garage, helping neighbors with oil changes and small repairs. His one rule: the owner stays and watches, leaving with more confidence and a better understanding of the work.

As a lead student in his Automotive Foundations program, Trey helped classmates work through challenging projects. Through his car club, he also helped teach basic vehicle maintenance through Driving for Success, a program sponsored by A Woman's Work. Beyond the shop, he founded a hands-on science club and earned his leadership academy's Accomplishment Award.

Trey's path at CMU Tech is part of a larger goal: earn automotive qualifications, continue into business education and eventually open a shop of his own, where helping customers learn remains part of every repair.

Diesel

Dylan Bliss

Future Tech
Universal Technical Institute, Orlando

Dylan Bliss is preparing to become a third-generation diesel mechanic while building a reputation of his own. His family's connection to the trade has given him a strong respect for the work, along with a determination to earn his place through learning, discipline and the quality of his work.

At Universal Technical Institute in Orlando, Dylan is focused on building the foundations of a career in diesel technology. He wants to understand why systems fail, diagnose difficult problems and keep developing as electronics and advanced diagnostics change the industry. His long-term goal is to become a master technician.

As he gains experience, Dylan also hopes to mentor younger technicians and encourage people searching for direction to consider skilled careers. He sees this beginning as an opportunity to carry his family's diesel story forward through knowledge, reliability and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Collision, Restoration & Welding

Haley Lau

Future Tech
Central Carolina Community College

Haley Lau combines hands-on creativity with a talent for bringing people together. A Collision Repair and Automotive Restoration student at Central Carolina Community College, she coordinated work to help complete a drop tank lakester for the 2026 Heritage Invitational. The build brought together fabrication, welding, metal shaping, mechanical work and painting.

As president of the Automotive Restoration Club, Haley led 27 students through two car shows that raised more than $4,500 for the Restoration Foundation Account. She also helped organize a Basic Car Care Shop Night, sharing practical automotive knowledge with the community while supporting fellow students in the shop.

Her instructor describes a student who listens, learns and keeps working through obstacles. Haley hopes to become an automotive restoration instructor herself and make the trade more approachable for women, helping others discover the confidence that comes from building and repairing things with their own hands.

Aviation, Motorcycle & Marine

Jeremy Echavarria

Future Tech
Spartan College, Riverside

Working on F-18 turbine engines in the Navy taught Jeremy Echavarria how much depends on a technician's attention to detail. That experience shaped his approach to aviation maintenance: understand the system, hold the line on quality and take responsibility for doing the job correctly.

At Spartan College in Riverside, Jeremy is building on that military foundation. He has passed his FAA Airframe oral and practical exams and is continuing through advanced Powerplant modules, bringing the same disciplined preparation to the classroom that he learned in the service.

Jeremy also believes technical knowledge should be shared. When he finds a clearer way to use a technical manual or troubleshoot a difficult system, he passes it on to his peers. For him, professionalism means developing his own skills while helping the people beside him become stronger technicians, with safety at the center of the work.

Emerging Technologies

Laila Quezada

Future Tech
Southwest Technical College

Laila Quezada found a new connection to technical work through Automation Technology at Southwest Technical College. The program brought together her mechanical engineering background, her interest in electrical and control systems, and the hands-on creativity she wanted in her career.

Selected to represent her program on the President's Council, Laila has advocated for classmates and shared her experience with community supporters at a scholarship fundraiser. She also represented her college during Utah's 2026 legislative session.

Outside the classroom, she founded Pretty Girl Motorsports, a women-focused clothing brand and educational media project. Through interviews with women in automotive and motorsports, and technical videos she is developing around a Kawasaki dirt-bike restoration, Laila aims to make practical knowledge more accessible and help more women see a place for themselves in the trades.

HVAC, Homes & Buildings

Justin Fernandez

Future Tech
Hudson Valley Community College

Returning to college gave Justin Fernandez a new path to turn practical experience into a career focused on the future of HVAC. In Hudson Valley Community College's HVAC Technology program, he has earned President's List recognition every semester while gaining industrial HVAC experience working for New York State. He also helps younger classmates understand concepts and work through assignments.

Justin is especially interested in energy-efficient building systems, automation and advanced controls. He hopes to continue his education in systems design and energy management at Ferris State University, with a particular interest in applying those skills to agriculture and greenhouse environments. Teaching is another long-term goal.

His commitment to helping others extends beyond school and work. Justin fosters dogs through the Fulton County Humane Society and helps maintain a community garden, bringing the same practical, supportive approach to his community that he brings to learning his trade.

Automotive & Motorsports

Jon Donnell

Working Tech
Mevert Automotive and Tire Center

Jon Donnell takes pride in sending customers home in vehicles they can trust. At Mevert Automotive and Tire Center, he continually seeks training to strengthen both his technical skills and his leadership, while mentoring younger technicians in the shop.

His achievements include recognition as a 2024 ASE World Class Technician and the 2026 NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year. Jon sees sharing his experience as a responsibility to the next generation, passing along the integrity, accountability and reliability that support good automotive work.

Since 2018, he has also contributed to Wishes on Wheels of Randolph County, a program that repairs or gives vehicles to families who need reliable transportation. Through repairs, mentorship and community service, Jon puts his skills to work for people both inside and outside the shop.

Diesel

Haade Ramadan

Working Tech
Penske Truck Leasing

Haade Ramadan approaches every truck repair with an awareness of the people who depend on it. At Penske Truck Leasing, he is a Diesel Technician II who takes on shift lead duties, develops his diagnostic skills and responds to road service calls.

He takes pride in being a dependable resource when a repair becomes complicated or the team needs additional support. That includes troubleshooting, keeping the shop organized and helping colleagues work through demanding situations.

Mentoring junior technicians is a central part of Haade's approach. He encourages them to understand the principles behind a repair instead of simply replacing components, and he makes time to answer questions and share what he has learned. As he continues developing his technical and leadership skills, his focus remains on reliable work, a stronger team and the safety of the drivers who rely on the vehicles he services.

Collision, Restoration & Welding

Tajdana “Kleo” Hallenbeck

Working Tech
Lincoln Tech, Columbia

For Tajdana “Kleo” Hallenbeck, welding brought a sense of focus and purpose. The ability to turn raw materials into something meaningful created a connection to the trade and a determination to keep improving with every project.

During training at Lincoln Tech, Kleo earned Dean's List recognition and Honor Roll honors four times. Those achievements reflect a commitment to learning the craft, maintaining high standards and building the discipline needed for a lasting career in welding.

Kleo also values the people learning alongside them. Encouraging classmates and colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive environment are part of the same commitment to the trade. Looking ahead, Kleo wants to keep learning from others and become a welder people can rely on, bringing perseverance, care and a willingness to grow to the work.

Aviation, Motorcycle & Marine

Nathalie Ortiz

Working Tech
Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Phoenix

Nathalie Ortiz believes strong technicians help others become stronger, too. At the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Phoenix, she has supported fellow students with study strategies, finding course material and developing confidence in hands-on work. She is especially committed to encouraging women to recognize their abilities and pursue their place in aviation maintenance.

For Nathalie, that sense of community is connected to the responsibility of the profession. Working together, sharing knowledge and helping others learn all serve the larger goal of keeping passengers safe.

Nathalie brings a people-first approach to technical learning, with the aim of creating a supportive environment where more people can succeed.

Emerging Technologies

Kain Kimberlin

Working Tech
Aggreko

Kain Kimberlin moved from technical training into power generation with a clear focus on learning quickly and helping others advance. A 2026 Universal Technical Institute graduate with a 4.00 GPA, he completed diesel and industrial technology training along with Cummins engine and power generation programs.

As a Natural Gas Technician I at Aggreko, Kain works on large-scale natural gas generators, applying mechanical and electrical skills to commissioning, decommissioning, repairs and troubleshooting.

Kain has also helped a classmate through the application and interview process at Aggreko. He sees progress in the trade as a shared effort, combining technical development with a willingness to support other emerging technicians.

HVAC, Homes & Buildings

Henry Grigsby

Working Tech
Pinnacle Career Institute

Henry Grigsby teaches at the same college where he began his own HVAC journey. After graduating from Pinnacle Career Institute with a 4.0 GPA, he worked as a commercial HVAC installer and then a residential service technician before returning to the school as an instructor.

That experience now shapes how he helps students prepare for the field. Henry is driven by seeing people develop their abilities and confidence, and he works to create a positive culture where they can grow. He received Educator of the Year recognition in his first year of teaching and has been named employee of the month twice.

His commitment to others continues beyond the classroom through mentoring, youth activities and helping feed people experiencing homelessness. Whether teaching a technical skill or encouraging someone to take the next step, Henry focuses on helping people reach their potential.
